New conctruction tops $215 million - sets new record
The value of new construction in the city of Branson during 2006 totaled $215.9 million, breaking the record set in 2005 of $173.6 million.
Major projects permitted in December included:
$22.1 million Sight and Sound Theater Phase 2 on Shepherd of the Hills Expressway
$685,000 housing units at Fox Pointe on Vixen Circle
$3 million Cancer Center for Skaggs Community Health Center on Skaggs Road
$3 million Kohl’s Department Store on Branson Hills Parkway
“Branson continues to be a hot ticket right now for new development,†said Michael Rankin, the city’s economic development director. “And it was the Branson Landing and convention center project that really started it.â€
Since 2001 when the Branson Landing project was first announced, new construction in the city has skyrocketed $175 million, from $41.3 million in ’01 to $215.9 million in ’06.
